Introducing Maleeha & Rukshar Asif
Maleeha and Rukshar Asif are sisters and famous in Denmark for their appearance in the documentary “Diary of Muslim girls”, which was broadcast on national television in 2015.
Maleeha and Rukshar shared aspects about their lives as young, Muslim Pakistani – Danes, which had an important impact in that majority Danes had the opportunity to discover that minority Danes in fact are… ordinary people.
Maleeha and Rukshar are ambassadors of the “Med Al Ære og Respekt” (With Honour and Respect) initiative which seeks to break patterns of social control and restrictive practices in families with traditional values.
Key Note speech at the Peace Justice Conference
Maleeha and Rukshar will deliver their speech on Satirday the 12th of May, which has the headline: “Meeting the Other”.
“Perspectives on being young and Muslim in Denmark, and aspects of negative social control.”

Maleeha Asif appeared in the much acclaimed TV documentary “Diary of Muslim Girls” (“Muslimske pigers dagbog”, DR 2015).
Maleeha is chairperson of the Integration Council in Høje Taastrup municipality, and an Erasmus+ coordinator. She is also a volunteer in Danish Muslim Aid and Pangæa, which seeks to build bridges between the majority and the minorities in Denmark.
Rukshar Asif

Rukshar Asif appeared in the much acclaimed TV documentary “Diary of Muslim Girls” (“Muslimske pigers dagbog”, DR 2015). Rukshar is a Humanity in Action ambassador, and an Erasmus+ coordinator. She is also a volunteer in Danish Muslim Aid and Pangæa, which seeks to build bridges between the majority and the minorities in Denmark. Rukshar also works to eliminate prejudice against minorities in Denmark, e.g. Muslims and Jews.
